RG 1/144 GUNDAM GP01 ZEPHYRANTHES

Hi there!

Today we will look at this amazing kit, the RG 1/144 GUNDAM GP01 ZEPHYRANTHES.

First of all, I don't really know anything about this kit...or from what series or movie it came from. But the design of this gundam is great so I decided to get this kit and make a review out of it.

UNBOXING

CORE FIGHTER

This is the first one you will build if you'e going to follow the instruction manual. Nothing special, it can be transform as part of the mobile suit. It has a many panel lining opportunities here. Three landing gears can be connected at the bottom of the plane.

FEET AND LEGS

Next are the feet and legs of the mobile suit. Following the instruction manual, the inner frame for the foot and legs will be built connected, so you will unable to separate the foot from the leg. There is a functioning piston that connects the feet from the legs,

The feet has a toes-feet-heels bend, connected in a hinge and a ball joint. The legs can bend nicely with great part separation.

WAIST

Front and back skirt is connected by a ball joint connect at the crotch and center back of the inner frame. They can move separately. Side skirts can move up and down and can swing front and back.

Details in this part, specially the front skirts is great.

BODY

Unlike other RG's, the body will be built hollow. This is due to the transformation of this kit. The door for the cockpit and the backpack cover can move upwards. The lenses on the shoulders can move sideways. The neck has a hinge and has a ball joint connection for the head.

ARMS and SHOULDER ARMOR

The arms has a three joint bend and has great details on it. Shoulder armor can move up once connected in the arms.

HEAD

Awesome head. the antenna is something make this kit unique... I guess. :/

COMBINING ALL THE PARTS

Transform the core fighter...

Connect the transformed core fighter to the waist and legs...

Connect connect the upper body with the arms and head...

Somehow I didn't recognized that the cover for the backpack (as part of the body) got separated :P

Articulation on this kit is great. You must be careful though since the part connection are not that secured... but you can do some amazing poses on this kit.

However, there's a limited articulation on the waist... minimal abs crunch and the waist can't turn sideways that much.

WEAPONS AND OTHER PARTS

Aside from closed fist hands, you will also get  RG hands, a trigger finger hand (which I already connected to the beam riffle) a beam riffle, a shield, a shield handle molded with hands, and two beam sabers.

The beam riffle has a beam effect that can be connected on the nozzle of the riffle.

The shield has two parts on it and can be compressed by pushing the lower part of the shield upward (which I didn't bother to do). It has an optional handle where it has a molded hand holding it. This is used so that you can pose the kit holding the shield forward.

Nothing special in the beam sabers.

OVER ALL

Articulation: 8/10
Details: 9/10
Design: 9/10
Playability: 7/10
----------------------
Over all: 8/10

Final thoughts, I did some research before getting this kit. Some of the review says that it has poor connection, specially the upper part and the body due to its gimmick. However, on my case, if you are careful in handling this kit, and connect the parts completely, this is a solid kit.

To be honest, I hesitated buying this kit for two reason (1) I don't know anything about this mobile suit and (2) poor connections and articulations base from other reviews. However I really like the design of this kit so I decided to buy one...and I'm glad that I did.

That's all for now, please look forward on my next review. :P

Thanks!
